Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now called Maureen O'Hara), would put her at least in the eyes of America, into the category of child prodigy. As a person with Irish roots, surrounded as she was by gifted parents and family was naturally gifted, it came as a natural. Maureen was welcomed into the sanctity of family on August 17 1920, at Ranelagh (a suburb of Dublin), Ireland. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based business and owned a share of "The Shamrock Rovers," famous Irish soccer team. Maureen FitzSimons was the second daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this wonderful family. Maureen was a natural athlete and was a fan of tough athletic games. Her passion and her gift to perform was impressive. That was apparent when she was awarded every Feis for drama and theater that Ireland had to provide. At age 14she was admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study the art of opera and classical theatre.
